This photograph of two figures in a hilly landscape with palm trees in Oudaghir, was taken by A.G.A. van Eelde. I'm just trying to imagine what it was like to be van Eelde when he made this photograph. What did he think when capturing this vista? The two figures in the photograph seem so small compared to the landscape! It makes me think about the relationship between humans and nature. Were the figures trying to find their place in this expansive land? I can feel the weight of the air and the heat of the sun through the photographic texture. Artists build on each other’s work, whether it be photography, painting or sculpture. Art making is a dialogue across time, inspiring each other’s creativity. It’s about taking risks, experimenting, and embracing the unexpected. It’s never about having one true meaning, it’s about the conversation between the work, the artist, and you.
