This "Side Chair" was created by Thomas Affleck, a prominent Philadelphia cabinetmaker, between 1770 and 1775. The chair's intricate, pierced splat design, featuring elegant curves and scrollwork, exemplifies the Rococo style that was popular during the colonial era. Its cabriole legs, terminating in paw feet, are a hallmark of this period and highlight the chair's refined craftsmanship.
