Andrea Mantegna's engraving, "The Adoration of the Magi," created between 1470 and 1485, depicts the biblical story of the three wise men visiting the newborn Jesus. The composition is dominated by a rocky cave with a multitude of angels, their wings filling the space above. Mary and Joseph, alongside the infant Christ, are positioned at the center of the scene, while the three Magi kneel in adoration at the bottom of the engraving. Mantegna's masterful use of perspective creates a sense of depth and grandeur, emphasizing the sacredness of the event. This powerful work exemplifies the artistic innovations of the Early Renaissance, and is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
