Hans Hinterreiter made this geometric painting, "Konstruktionszeichnung zu Opus 73", with a steady hand. It’s a world of tans and light blues, all neatly contained in this orb. Looking at this, I imagine Hinterreiter was deeply in thought, methodically layering these shapes. There's no room for slop here! Each band and curve had to be carefully plotted. I wonder what he was listening to? Something classical I bet, or maybe some early electronic music? I see some nods to mathematical art, almost like a blueprint for a modernist quilt. And look at those sharp angles. They're so precise they almost feel digital. I bet this guy was inspired by fellow artists like Mondrian, who also worked with geometry. It's like they're all in conversation with one another through time, passing along the baton of creative ideas. For me, painting is all about opening up possibilities rather than nailing down fixed meanings, Konstruktionszeichnung zu Opus 73 is a reminder of that fact.
