Painting 1752

This etching by Marie Madeleine Igonet, titled “La Peinture”, depicts an artist at work in their studio, a popular subject in 18th-century art. The scene is filled with details of the artist's trade: a palette, brushes, an easel, and a canvas. Igonet was only 16 years old when she created this artwork. Unfortunately, her talent was cut short, as she died at the age of 16. The artwork is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
