Tulla Sleeping 

This is Theodor Severin Kittelsen's study titled "Tulla Sleeping", created sometime before the artist's death in 1914. Kittelsen lived in a Norway undergoing rapid change, as industrialization and urbanization began to challenge traditional rural life. Here, Kittelsen captures an intimate moment of domesticity. The sleeping figure of Tulla is rendered with soft, flowing lines, conveying a sense of peace. Kittelsen's sensitivity toward his subject and his focus on themes related to home and family reveal the tenderness and vulnerability of domestic life. It's interesting how the figure of Tulla is repeated and isolated as if to emphasize a feeling of separation or isolation.
