Victoria Hutson Huntley made this lithograph, New York Window, and well, it’s a whole mood. Look at the way she's built up tone, layers upon layers of tiny marks, to give the image weight. Like a drawing, but printed. The whole thing has a velvety texture that makes you want to reach out and touch it. It’s a quiet piece, all grays and soft whites, but there's so much going on in the details. See how the curtains are kind of blowing in the breeze, and how the buildings outside the window are cropped, like a snapshot? It's like she wants us to feel the moment, to see the city the way she saw it, framed and fleeting. It reminds me a bit of Edward Hopper, but with a softer touch. Where Hopper is all about the hard edges and loneliness, Huntley’s got this gentle, almost romantic vibe. Art isn’t about answers, it’s about the conversation, right?
