Enzo Cucchi made this painting, Sopra-piume, with some kind of paint, maybe oil, on a small support. The picture is filled with a kind of golden light, like when you’re driving into the sun, and the whole world glows. The paint looks thin, almost like it was scrubbed into the surface. It’s like Cucchi wanted to make something dreamy, a vision of a place. Look at the building on the left—it's not really there, but more like a memory of a building. And then there are these streaks of light, or maybe rain, coming down. It’s all very atmospheric. I’m reminded of Giorgio Morandi, who would paint the same bottles over and over again, trying to capture the feeling of a place through simple forms and muted colors. Cucchi is doing something similar here, but with a bit more drama. It’s not about what we see, but about how we feel when we see it. It’s about the experience, you know? The process of seeing itself.
