Curatorial notes

This postcard, sent by Octave Maus, is like a little drawing made with the hand and mind, like a dance. See how the address is laid out in such thin, dark lines, hovering over the light pink surface? The letters are stretched and pulled, almost as if Maus is savoring each word, each destination. The stamps and postmarks add layers of meaning, like a collage of time and travel. Look at the way the ink bleeds slightly, softening the edges and creating a sense of movement. It reminds me of Cy Twombly's scribbled surfaces, where writing becomes image and image becomes writing. Like a conversation, this postcard invites us to consider art as an ongoing process of exchange. Think about all the hands this card has passed through, all the eyes that have gazed upon it, each leaving their mark, their interpretation. And in the end, like all great art, it remains open, inviting us to bring our own experiences and perspectives to bear.
