Nishikawa Sukenobu’s *Picture Book of Evergreens* (c. 1731-1738) is a beautifully illustrated book depicting a woman in a traditional Japanese robe standing near a gate in front of a calming landscape featuring a body of water with dragonflies flitting about. This *surimono* print is a fine example of the luxurious printing techniques used in Japan during the Edo period, demonstrating the art of woodblock printing and the use of vivid color to create a serene and captivating scene. This work is a treasure of the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s collection of Japanese woodblock prints.
