Alfred Freddy Krupa made this experimental watercolor painting in 2018, and right away you can see it's about the push and pull of color, how it can be both watery and dense. There's a real process happening here. The way the blues dominate, almost fighting with the yellows and greens, gives the whole scene a cool, contemplative vibe. You can almost feel the dampness of the water. Look closely at the vertical blue marks suggesting a building; how they reflect into the water. The surface of the paper isn't smooth; it's got this gritty, raw texture that makes you think about the physicality of making art. This reminds me of some of Turner's later watercolors, where he's less concerned with representation and more interested in capturing the essence of light and atmosphere. Art is about embracing the messy, the ambiguous, and the unresolved.
