"De schooljuffrouw" is an anonymous 17th century etching depicting a scene of a teacher instructing a group of young girls. The teacher sits at a table with a book, surrounded by attentive students, suggesting a classroom setting. This artwork offers a glimpse into the education of young women during the 17th century and is a great example of genre art from the Dutch Golden Age. It is currently housed at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
