This silver coin, "Gulden voor Nederlands Indië, 1802," was minted in 1802 by the Batavian Republic. On one side, the coin depicts a ship sailing the sea, a symbol of Dutch maritime power and trade. The other side features the coat of arms of the Batavian Republic, a lion holding a sword and arrows. The coin, currently in the Rijksmuseum, is a small but important artifact showcasing the history of Dutch colonial expansion and its connection to the East Indies.
