It feels almost primordial, that heavy, dark plate hovering above. Curator: Kadishman was deeply concerned with the Israeli landscape and its transformation. This print, with its textured surfaces, seems to wrestle with ideas of construction and alteration. Editor: That black disc disrupts the natural order. It's an eclipse, a void, or perhaps a stylized sun, depending on how you interpret the symbolism. Curator: The layering of textures, the screen-printing process itself, mimics the geological stratification, the building up and tearing down of the land.
