Editor: Here we have Antonio Tempesta's "Procris Giving Cephalus a Dog and Javelin." It's a small etching, and I'm struck by the dynamism achieved with such delicate lines. What do you make of the composition? Curator: Note how Tempesta employs contrasting line weights to define form and create depth. Observe the meticulous rendering of drapery and musculature. Do you perceive a hierarchy in these visual elements? Editor: I think the figures are very much the focus, even though the landscape is richly detailed, too. It's all so active! I learned a lot. Curator: Indeed. Considering the intricate interplay of line and form, it is easier to approach Baroque aesthetics with clarity.
