"Schepen onder een brug tijdens de overstroming van Parijs, gezien vanuit een trein’ shows a gray and somber Paris, captured in gelatin silver print, by G. Dangereux. I wonder what G. Dangereux was thinking, the boats look stranded. Did they see the water as a threat? I have experienced a similar feeling, standing outside my studio in New York, the whole street flooded from a burst water pipe. It was so surreal! This gelatin silver print, probably straight from the camera, freezes a specific moment in time, like when I decide to stop adding layers to my canvases, and say, "Okay, that's it." In a broader sense, the way Dangereux frames the scene and the greyscale tonal range suggests that he was looking at tonalist painters like James McNeill Whistler. Dangereux has made a mark that is both a document and an idea; he has shown us that art and life are in an ongoing conversation. "
