Thiago Boecan painted ‘Involution’ in oil, we don’t know exactly when, but it feels fresh, like it’s still in process somehow. The brushwork, the colour, it's all so immediate, you can feel the artist’s hand right there. For me, art is about that conversation with the materials, pushing and pulling, seeing what happens. There’s a real physicality to this piece, the paint is applied in these thick, juicy strokes, especially on the figure’s back and shoulders. You can almost feel the texture, the way the brush dragged across the canvas. And that limited palette, those earthy reds and browns, it creates this sense of warmth, of being grounded. Look at the way the light catches on the figure’s arm, it's so simple, but so effective. It’s like Boecan is saying, "Here, this is what I see, this is what I feel." It makes me think of Egon Schiele, that same intensity of feeling, that same focus on the human body, but with a slightly different energy. Art is just an ongoing conversation, isn't it?
