Ann Gene Buckley made this painting of a Skirt, and I love how she captured every detail using delicate lines and colours. Just imagine her act of painting: she carefully constructed it, shifting and emerging through trial, error, and intuition. I sympathize with her and imagine what it might have been like to create. What was she thinking when she made it? The skirt seems to be made out of light blue fabric, and you can see beautiful patterns decorating the skirt. I think the subtle differences in tone and color, the thinness of the paint, and the texture, all shape our experience of the painting and contribute to its resonances. Artists like Ann Gene Buckley are in an ongoing conversation across time, inspiring one another’s creativity. Buckley’s piece seems to embody ambiguity and uncertainty, which makes me happy because it allows for multiple interpretations.
