This is Carel Adolph Lion Cachet's 'Meubel- of architectuurontwerp' or Furniture or Architectural Design, made with pen on paper. It feels like a stage set, a backdrop to something else. Look at the bottom right, the way those lines are stacked, almost like a rushed, unfinished building. You can see where the artist made adjustments, changing his mind, redrawing lines. That’s the good stuff. It’s all about seeing the thinking, the process, the human touch. The smudges and faint lines, they’re part of the story, too. It feels fragile, like the artist is reaching for something, trying to capture an idea before it disappears. It reminds me of the work of Blinky Palermo, who also embraced simple forms and pared-down aesthetics. Ultimately, art is a conversation, an exchange of ideas across time, and each artist adds their own voice to the mix. It’s more interesting to embrace the ambiguity, the multiple interpretations, over any fixed meaning.
