Initial til Frederik IV's Salvingsakt 1749

This small etching by Odvardt Helmholt de Lode, titled "Initial til Frederik IV's Salvingsakt," was created in 1749 and depicts a regal figure standing in front of a throne with a large "T" for the initial in the foreground. The scene is framed by a long, looping banner with the inscription "SURGIT UT EXHILARET," or "He rises to gladden". This image is a fine example of the use of engraved initials in historical works and is a testament to the artist's skill in the medium. The work is held at the SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen, Denmark.
