Oleg Holosiy made this painting of running children with expressive brushstrokes and a warm, earthy palette. I can imagine him building up the surface, layering reds and yellows, scrubbing and smearing them, as if trying to conjure the energy of a chaotic moment. There's this urgency in the way the colors bleed into each other, like a storm front moving across the land. The black, gestural marks zig and zag across the canvas, creating a sense of movement and tension, which reminds me a little of Twombly's scrawls, but with a more ominous feel. Look at how they seem to claw at the space, pulling us into the heart of the scene. It makes you wonder what Holosiy was thinking about when he made this. Was he trying to capture a specific memory? Or was he after something more universal, like the feeling of fear or the instinct to protect? Whatever it was, it’s clear artists are forever responding to each other, building upon each other’s ideas, and inviting us to see the world in new ways.
