"Ma cosa fai? Ma cosa dici?" by Alighiero Boetti, is like a quiet question whispered on paper. It feels like a study in subtle contrasts, the light tan paper overlaid with a darker sheet and the simple line drawing of the cube. Boetti's mark-making feels so intentional here. It's all about process, about letting the idea unfold. The lines of the cube aren't perfect, yet they’re precise. The texture of the paper invites you in, while the drawing pulls you back. That lone cube, hanging in the center, it's both solid and fragile, like a thought taking shape. What does it mean? Is it solid, a thought, a form, or is it more about the potential, the questions it raises? And that title, 'What are you doing? What are you saying?' Is he asking us, or himself? Much like Sol Lewitt, Boetti’s work invites us to consider the nature of rules and systems and how we create meaning within them. It’s an open invitation to think, feel, and question.
