Alevtyna Kakhidze made this untitled drawing with what looks like ink, on paper. The stark contrast of black against the white page, immediately grabs you, doesn't it? The marks are so immediate, so decisive. It feels like the artist is thinking right in front of you, laying down the lines as they come. Look at the figure, so simply rendered, yet full of emotion. And those words, "I am tired that you don't trust what Russia is and who are Russians REALLY." It's like a gut punch, right? You feel the artist’s weariness, the frustration. The drawing of a building on fire below this figure, with the thick smoke rising above, creates a strong emotional impact. The directness reminds me of Tracey Emin’s work – that raw honesty, laid bare for everyone to see. But here, Kakhidze adds a layer of political urgency, turning personal feelings into a larger statement. Art can be a mirror, but it can also be a megaphone, you know?
