Theodoor Koning's 1779 etching "Grafmonument voor Lucas Reeder" is a fine example of Neoclassical art. The artwork depicts a classical style tomb with a skull and crossbones on top and a variety of figures and symbols associated with death. The scene is set in a peaceful landscape with trees and a distant building. It is a powerful depiction of mortality and the fragility of life. The work is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum and measures 192mm in height by 133mm in width.
