hard-edge-painting

Eduardo Nery made this painting of orange and yellow blocks against a royal blue background, and I can only imagine the sheer precision and patience that went into it. I feel like I’m falling up, surrounded by glowing building blocks! It makes me think of those computer games I used to play back in the day. I wonder if the artist was into gaming, too. Or maybe he was just fascinated by architecture and wanted to capture that feeling of endless space and possibility. The way the blocks recede into the distance is super cool. Each form is carefully painted to give you a sense of depth and perspective. It reminds me a little of Renaissance paintings, but with a funky, modern twist. I love how artists riff off each other across time, playing with ideas and pushing the boundaries of what painting can do. It’s all about keeping the conversation going and finding new ways to see the world.
