Editor: This print, "Gease," by Francis Barlow, shows two geese in simple lines. One's head is up, calling out, and the other is grazing. What do you make of these birds? Curator: Well, they strike me as a study in contrasts, don't they? One calls, the other feeds, each absorbed in their own world but occupying the same space. I wonder if Barlow intended to explore the different modes of being? Editor: I hadn't thought of it that way, but that makes sense. It's more than just a simple animal study, then. Curator: Perhaps! Or perhaps it's as simple as appreciating the beauty of the mundane, transforming the ordinary into art. What do you think? Editor: I think I like them, either way. Thanks for your insight!
