“Forge of Vulcan” is a drawing by the Italian artist Domenico Mondo (1723-1806) currently housed at the Art Institute of Chicago. The drawing depicts the mythological god Vulcan, who is known for his blacksmithing abilities. The scene shows Vulcan forging metal, with a small figure observing him, possibly a human, as well as others around him. The use of grey and white tones gives the artwork a sense of depth and drama. It's a study for a larger painting on the same subject.
