Jessica Price made this drawing of a jar, we don’t know when or why, but it’s pretty cool. The way she's approached the subject, well, it's almost as if she's coaxing it into existence. The jar emerges from the page with soft, subtle washes of color that give it weight, depth and volume. See how the blues on the lip and base of the jar contrast with the creamy, earthy tones of the body? Then there’s that wild, decorative pattern, like inky blue fireworks exploding near the top, totally captivating. I mean, who knew a simple jar could be so interesting, right? It reminds me a bit of Giorgio Morandi’s still life paintings, where everyday objects become these monumental, meditative forms. Like Morandi, Price transforms the ordinary into something quite extraordinary, a testament to the power of close observation and the quiet beauty of the mundane.
