Eugene Feldman made this print, *Headlights on West River Drive 1*, using a monochromatic palette and a screen printing technique. I love to imagine Feldman in the darkroom with this image slowly materializing in front of him. I sympathize with the artist, imagining him coaxing this scene into existence. You know, that push and pull between intention and accident, watching how the ink takes to the paper. It's interesting how Feldman uses the stark contrast of light and dark to create a feeling of movement and speed. Those streaks of light—are they headlights, or something more abstract, like bursts of energy? There's something really evocative about this play with light, and those wiry graphic lines in the upper-mid distance. I’m reminded of other artists who explore light and motion in their work, like László Moholy-Nagy. Artists are in an ongoing conversation, each one riffing off the others. They’re constantly inspiring each other's creativity across time. And for me, I think that it's about embracing ambiguity, allowing for multiple readings that shift and change over time.
