Editor: So, here we have "The Annunciation" by Monogrammist C. B., at the Harvard Art Museums. It's a tiny circular piece, and something about the delicate lines makes it feel incredibly intimate. What do you make of it? Curator: It's a whisper of a drawing, isn't it? Like a secret passed between the angel and Mary, caught in a web of lines. I wonder, what sort of light did the artist work in? Did they feel like they were revealing this moment, or simply tracing its shadow? Editor: That’s beautiful. I hadn’t thought of it as a shadow. Curator: Perhaps all art is just that, a shadow of an idea. Editor: I love that. Thanks for shedding light on it. Curator: The pleasure was all mine.
