Carla Accardi made this print, "Blu," with ink on paper, and it’s all about process. There's this incredible balance between accident and intention. Look at the way the blue forms float against the brown and cream background. The shapes feel almost like puzzle pieces, but they don't quite fit together. Each form is densely packed with hatched lines, creating a vibrating texture that contrasts with the flat, uniform grounds. I love how the crispness of the blue contrasts with the handmade quality of the mark-making. It reminds me of the work of someone like Elizabeth Murray, who also played with abstraction and fragmented forms, but with a bold graphic punch. Art is an ongoing conversation. There’s an acceptance that art is never truly finished, and that ambiguity is not a flaw, but a strength.
