Editor: This small, untitled drawing from the British School depicts a dog in ink on paper. The rough edges of the paper give it a fragile, almost discarded feel. What do you see in this piece? Curator: The sketch evokes a sense of vulnerability, doesn’t it? The fragmented support mirrors the precariousness of marginalized identities. The dog could be seen as a symbol of loyalty, but also of subjugation. How might we interpret the artist’s choice to portray it in such a raw, unfinished state? Editor: That's an interesting point. I hadn’t considered the dog as representing subjugation. It really gives me a lot to think about. Curator: Precisely! And that’s where the power of art lies, in its ability to provoke questions and challenge our assumptions.
