"Februari" is a black and white etching by Jan Gerritsz Swelinck, created between 1624 and 1645. The etching depicts a scene from the life of Jesus Christ, where he calls his disciples to become fishermen. The scene is set by the sea, with a town in the distance, and a tall tower on the shore. The scene is surrounded by a decorative frame, which features two intertwined fish symbolizing the month of February and the zodiac sign Pisces. Swelinck's meticulous detail in the depiction of ships and figures, as well as the inclusion of architectural details and a bird on top of the tower, contributes to the richness of this work. This artwork is an example of an early "print" in which the artist used etching to create the final work.
