Pat Lipsky made 'Nuances for C.G' with what looks like layers of watercolour or very thin acrylic paint. You can almost feel the process, watching her build up these translucent squares. The colours are so tender, pinks and yellows, like a faded memory. I love the way the grid warps and shifts, suggesting a kind of organic, breathing form beneath the surface. Look closely, and you can see how each square is slightly different, a subtle variation in tone or texture. There is a dance between control and chance, like improvising within a set structure. It reminds me a little bit of Agnes Martin's grids, but with a warmer, more playful energy. Like art is an ongoing conversation, each artist building on what came before. It is not about perfection, but about embracing the beauty of imperfection.
