This is Michael Fenga's "Silver Sugar Bowl," made on paper, probably around the late 20th century. It's a drawing, but it's also a study in light and form. Look at how Fenga uses shading to give the bowl its three-dimensional presence. The graphite is layered so delicately, creating a smooth, almost silvery sheen. It’s like he’s trying to capture the very essence of what makes silver, well, silver. The monogrammed cartouche on the bowl adds a personal touch, a hint of history. The whole thing feels both real and slightly dreamlike. I'm thinking about Morandi, another artist who found endless inspiration in simple, everyday objects, exploring the subtle nuances of tone and texture. Fenga invites us to slow down, to really see the beauty in the mundane.
