This small promotional card of Point Judith lighthouse, issued by Duke Sons & Co., presents a beacon of hope. The lighthouse stands tall against the sky, a symbol deeply rooted in our collective consciousness. Throughout history, the lighthouse has served as a powerful motif. Think of the Pharos of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders, guiding ships safely to port. It's an image of security, vigilance, and guidance, echoing in various forms across cultures. Yet, this beacon also stirs something primal. Like a single candle in the darkness, the lighthouse taps into our fear of the unknown, the subconscious dread of being lost at sea. The symbolism doesn't end there. Note the white picket fence – a modern symbol of safety, domesticity and belonging. In essence, this little card is a reminder of our perpetual dance with light and darkness, safety and danger, a cycle that continues to shape our shared visual language.
