This photographic film sheet, titled "Bridgehampton, New York no number," by Robert Frank, shows us the artist's journey with his camera. What strikes me is the artist’s eye, always searching, always framing. He shows us people in cars, glimpses of landscapes, and windows, all captured in stark black and white. I can almost feel him peering through the lens, deciding what to keep and what to leave out, making choices in a split second. The repetition of the frames reminds me of the seriality of someone like Andy Warhol, but with a kind of beatnik twist. There is something both intimate and detached about the way Frank captures his subjects. I imagine him driving through America, observing, and trying to make sense of it all through his lens. Frank's work reminds us that artmaking is as much about the process of seeing as it is about what we ultimately show. And by embracing the raw and unpolished, he invites us to see the world with new eyes.
