This lace cuff with a symmetrical frame and hanging tufts was made by Leon Sacré, but we don't know when. It’s all about process, right? Think about all the tiny knots and twists that build into a field of soft, rhythmic activity. The off-white thread gives a warmth that contrasts with the complexity of the design. Look at the lower edge, those tiny loops give a little kick to the eye. It’s not perfectly symmetrical, either; that makes it so much more alive, like a drawing. The piece breathes with tiny variations, the artist's touch palpable in every twist and turn of the thread. It's like a conversation that can go anywhere. This piece reminds me of Hilma af Klint’s drawings, all those tiny movements combining to form a pattern. It’s art as an ongoing conversation, where meaning isn’t fixed but unfolds with each new interaction.
