Violante Brasavola, Wife of Giambattista Pigna c. late 16th century

This bronze medal, created by the Italian artist Giovanni Battista Cambio, known as Bombarda, depicts Violante Brasavola, the wife of Giambattista Pigna. The medal, which measures 7.11 centimeters in diameter, shows Violante in profile, wearing a pearl necklace and a draped garment. This work, dating back to the late 16th century, is a fine example of Renaissance portraiture in bronze.
