Editor: This is Terry Winters' "Field Note (15)," an undated print. The forms seem organic, like cells or strange fruit. What do you see in this piece? Curator: I see a commentary on power structures embedded within biological forms, like the body politic reflected in the body cellular. Note the heavy, dark ink and the suggestion of growth – does it hint at uncontrolled expansion? Editor: I hadn't considered that. It's interesting to think of it in terms of control versus uncontrolled growth. Curator: Exactly. Art can mirror societal anxieties. What did you learn? Editor: I see it as more than just organic shapes now. It’s a reflection of societal forces.
