This small, circular silver coin, known as a rekenpenning, was minted in 1616 in the Duchy of Brabant. The coin depicts the coats of arms of Albrecht and Isabella of Austria, rulers of the Netherlands from 1598 to 1621. The coin is a reminder of their struggle to retain control of the County of Gulik. The front side of the coin features a figure standing in front of a tree while the back side includes the combined coat of arms of Albrecht and Isabella. This piece is a valuable historical artifact, illustrating the political and cultural significance of coinage in the early modern period.
