Editor: Here we have Alexander Cozens' "Wooded Coast Scene," residing at the Tate. It’s…melancholy, almost brooding, wouldn't you say? That single shaft of light piercing the clouds, though, offers a glimmer of hope. What do you make of its overall composition? Curator: It feels like a memory, doesn't it? Cozens was masterful at evoking atmosphere. Those hazy, almost dreamlike qualities. The way the dark trees frame the distant light… it's like looking into the past, or perhaps a half-remembered dream. It's a world that exists more in feeling than in concrete detail.
