Arsen Savadov made *Parliament Lights* without specifying exactly when, or what with, but I can imagine his process. The faces, emerging from the canvas in shades of dark and light, feel like they were built up slowly, layer by layer, each stroke a kind of meditation. I’m thinking about the act of painting itself, that constant shifting and emerging through trial and error and intuition. What was Savadov thinking, I wonder, as he coaxed these portraits into being? I'm drawn to the way the paint creates such an interesting texture on the surface, which shapes our experience of the painting. You know, there is a real conversation happening among artists across time, inspiring each other's creativity. Painting, for me, is a form of expression that welcomes ambiguity and uncertainty, allowing for multiple readings over fixed interpretations.
