This series of undated, unattributed photographs, pasted into an album, gives me a certain kind of feeling, you know? It's about looking, of course, but also about place, and about time. I imagine the artist, whoever they were, carefully considering each shot, each composition. What were they hoping to capture? The crisp architectural lines of a government building, or the spires of a church reaching towards the sky? The rice paddies, stretching out into the horizon? Each image feels like a question. They fit together so nicely in a way that reminds me of Gerhard Richter's "Atlas." The presentation is fascinating and invites a sense of journey. Perhaps this is how the artist saw and remembered the world. The artist encourages us to be travelers too. I am left wondering, as a viewer, what story do these images tell, and how do they speak to each other across time and space?
