S. Sealtiel’s “Hotel ‘Schiller’ - Amsterdam (Holland)” is a photograph that pulls you into a moment in time. What strikes me is the overall monochrome palette, a dance of greys and blacks which is a reminder that every image, every artwork, starts with a single mark. I imagine S. Sealtiel, strolling through Amsterdam, pausing to capture this particular building, maybe struck by the light, the geometry, or the hotel's quiet grandeur. I like how they've framed the image with those bare winter trees, like a curtain being drawn to reveal the scene. The wet road, gleaming in the light, feels almost like a painting in itself. There is a real depth and attention to detail. And I am drawn to the way this piece speaks to all kinds of art. Each of us is adding to a visual conversation that's been going on forever.
