Untitled. Winter Album 2016

Kinder Album made this untitled piece with delicate lines and muted watercolor washes. It's all poised on the edge of awkwardness. I can imagine them bent over this blank page, puzzling over the relationship between the body and the snowman. Is it a kind of offering? A play on the phrase 'Netflix and Chill'? The lines are thin, as if the artist wants to make a hasty get-away. But the overall effect is tender and human, funny and strange. It reminds me of the kind of playful iconoclasm you find in artists like Nicole Eisenman. The great thing about paintings, even ones that seem simple, is how they keep you guessing, generating new connections between artists, across generations.
