This Untitled artwork by Alevtyna Kakhidze is a simple black ink drawing of a place, maybe even a space, made with careful and tentative lines. The whole scene seems to exist within the confines of a giant thumb or perhaps a seed pod. Inside, there's a whole world, compressed and intimate, packed with buildings, trees, roads, and even what looks like a small park. What I love about drawings like these is the way they make you want to trace the artist's thought process. Each line feels like a decision, a tiny act of world-building. Look at the way Kakhidze renders the buildings - some are just simple boxes, others have more detail, but they all have a kind of childlike charm. It reminds me a little of Paul Klee’s playful cityscapes, in the way the artist uses simple forms to evoke a whole environment. It suggests that art is always a conversation, a way of seeing and re-seeing the world around us.
