Camilla d'Errico’s "Taurus" presents us with a figure that blends human and animal traits, rendered with a mesmerizing, otherworldly aesthetic characteristic of her work. D’Errico often explores themes of identity and transformation through her art, and here, the zodiac sign Taurus is re-imagined. There is a consideration of the self, and maybe, a question of what it means to be grounded in an almost ethereal way. The floral patterns on the horns contrast with the melting blue liquid from her shoulders, underscoring the duality of earth and water, strength and vulnerability. The artist uses manga and surrealist traditions to develop alternative narratives. The androgynous figure challenges traditional representations of gender and identity.
