This pair of black, long gala gloves were made by Alexandrine (winkelbedrijf) sometime between 1950 and 1960. The gloves are made of a smooth, black fabric with a subtle stitch detail that runs the length of each glove. The stitching gives the gloves a sleek and elegant look. The gloves are currently on display at the Rijksmuseum, an important collection of Dutch art and history in Amsterdam. The gloves are a great example of mid-century fashion and demonstrate the importance of accessories in shaping one's style.

Alexandrine was a Parisian manufacturer specialised in luxury gloves, although they also sold matching bags and stockings. Their gloves were on sale in the Netherlands at Hirsch & Cie.
