This is "Bombardement 129 - Les Pantalons et la Chemise" by Francois Arnal and just looking at it makes me want to pick up a brush! There's a lot of tonal contrast between a dark background and a central, diffused, white form, maybe linen or cotton. The paint is applied softly, so it's not quite tangible, but the subject itself seems familiar, recognizable. I imagine the artist working with a limited palette, building up layers of thin washes to create luminosity. It's like Arnal is after something in between figuration and abstraction, kind of hovering in the zone. A hinge sits below the ambiguous pile of clothes adding a surreal quality. The title suggests clothes, but they could be anything. I think the artist is inviting us to make our own associations, find our own points of connection. What do you see?
